British MP George Galloway: World Not Taking Action on Israel - War on Gaza
Israeli
airstrikes continue to target the besieged Gaza Strip while the
international community seems sluggish in both taking notice and action.
The United Nations Security Council has held an emergency meeting amid the ongoing Israeli airstrikes against Palestinians.
At
the meeting, the Palestinian ambassador called on the Council to take
action against Israel's violation of the international law, while the UN
Secretary-General demanded a ceasefire.
President of the
Palestinian National Unity Government Mahmoud Abbas says the
international community should intervene to halt Israel's dangerous
military offensive. He has warned that the recent wave of violence could
plunge the whole region into more instability.
Gaza has been
blockaded since June 2007. The blockade has caused a decline in the
standards of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and
unrelenting poverty.
